Сколько стоит /sko:lka sto:it/ How much does it cost

This is one of the most useful phrases to practice when you go shopping. In supermarkets you don’t need it any more, but you’ll have to communicate if you go to a street market. You can also ask a driver ‘sko:lka sto:it’  when you negotiate the taxi price. (If you don’t understand the answer the locals will use sign language or a calculator).  If you’re in a mood to bargain, you can say “eta do: raga!” which means this is expensive. Don’t expect a really big discount in souvenir markets. If you’re lucky you might knock down prices up to 25 percent.
