This 3 day  Golden Ring tour will allow you to explore old Russian towns, many of which are older than Moscow. It will give you a unique chance to  plunge into the atmosphere of countryside in Suzdal and Rostov, as well as experience provincial towns’ life in Yaroslavl and Kostroma.
Please note that this tour is rather intense. For more relaxed way to explore these towns,  you might consider 4 days/3 nights option.


Day 1
At 8 am our guide-chaperone picks you up from the hotel to leave for Sergiev Posad. It will take you approximately 2 hours to get there where you visit the famous pilgrimage sight, the Holy-Trinity St. Sergius Monastery, quite often referred as Russian Vatican. The Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius was founded in the early 14th century by one of the most venerated saints of Russia St. Sergius. For centuries, Russian czars and common people set out on pilgrimage to the monastery. It remains one of the most sacred places in Russia today.
Lunch at the local restaurant
Transfer to Rostov the Great
Rostov the Great has been known since the 9th century. It is famous for the 17th century Kremlin with numerous churches and gorgeous views from the Kremlin walls. (Unlike in Moscow Kremlin, here you might walk along the fortified wall or even climb the bell tower).

Transfer to Yaroslavl  to check in the hotel.
Dinner at any restaurant of your choice (not included, but can be arranged upon request)

Day 2
9 am Sightseeing tour of Yaroslavl.  As the city lies on a high, steep bank of the Volga river, it offers myriads of photo opportunities of the ¨mother Volga¨ 'quite often called so by Russians.
On the tour you will visit the territory of Saviour Transfiguration Monastery and see interiors  of  Elijah the Prophet Church (in summer only).
Driving to Kostroma (about 1,5 h)
Lunch break is followed by the city tour of Kostroma. The town is located at the confluence of the Volga and the Kostroma Rivers. During the tour you will visit the Ipatiev Monastery , once the shelter of Mikhail Romanov, the first tsar of the Romanov Dynasty. He was offered the Russian throne in 1613 thus ending the Time of Troubles and Polish Intervention in Russian. You will also see the Trinity Cathedral, known for its frescos as well as walk through the central part of Kostroma to admire 18th century architecture of provincial town.
Transfer to Suzdal (about 3 h) and check in the hotel
Late dinner at any restaurant of your choice (not included, but can be arranged upon your request)

 Day 3
9 am  sightseeing tour of Suzdal which was once the capital of Rostov-Suzdal principality. This town is like a museum under the open sky, its medieval monuments can tell you its old story.  During the tour, you will visit the Museum of Wooden Architecture, St Euthymius monastery (or Intercession Convent), Suzdal Kremlin.
Driving to Vladimir to see the Assumption cathedral (if it is open), St. Demetrius cathedral (outside), Golden gates (outside) and learn the old history of Vladimir,  which used to be the capital of Russia in old days.
At about 5 pm we set back to Moscow which takes about 4 hours.
This tour is available each day except Saturday due to the heavy traffic. Tours can be customized to your preferences. Additional sights and workshops might be included on your request.
