Dacha life in Melihovo

If you are tired of the daily hustle and bustle and noise of a big metropolis why not come to Melikhovo?  In the cozy estate near Moscow you will feel the atmosphere of the dacha life of the late 19th century, experience traditional tea with a Russian samovar, take part in games of the prerevolutionary times and watch or even perform in the countryside theatre.

Melihovo is  the country estate of Anton Chekhov. The famous Russian playwright and writer lived here from 1892 to 1899.  Some of his most famous plays and stories, including Uncle Vanya and The Seagull were written in Melihovo.

Every Saturday during the summer season the guests of the hospitable Chekhov museum can not only enjoy the fresh air and picturesque area of the estate, but also learn a lot.


• The friendly owner will teach guests how to inflate samovar. You'll not only indulge in delicious home-made jam and cakes accompanied by tea, but learn about the everyday dacha life of the 19th century person

• You'll play different games that used to be popular 100 years ago but now almost completely forgotten.

-    You can watch and take part in theatre performances.

 A special "dacha" exhibition will illustrate the life of the summer residence during the time of Chekhov.
