Rimsky-Korsakov

These days the International House of Music invites everyone to the festival  of the great Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov.  Many fairy tales such as "The Tale of Tsar Saltan", "Snow Maiden", "Sadko" are known and popular throughout the world primarily because of the majestic music of Rimsky-Korsakov. The festival is held in the year of the 170th anniversary of the birth of the composer.


The best Moscow Soloists and Orchestras such as  "National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia", "Russian Philharmonic" and the State Symphony Capella will perform works by Rimsky -Korsakov of different genres.

On the first day, February 26, Moscow City Symphony Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic" presents in Svetlanov Hall "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" opera using the latest lighting technology.

On March 3 the evening of vocal chamber music is held in the Chamber Hall of the House of music. The concert features the soloists of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Alexandra Durseneva (mezzo-soprano) and Vsevolod Grivnov (tenor). The program includes arias and duets from "Snow Maiden", "May Night", " Sadko", "The Tsar's Bride" operas and romances.

On March 5 the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra performs a program of symphonic pieces and arias. The concert is held in Svetlanov Hall. The soloist - Aglatova Anna (soprano) .

On March 10 "Mozart and Salieri" opera is performed at the Chamber Hall. Among the soloists are Bogdana Volkova (tenor), soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Oleg Tsybulko (bass) and the ensemble of soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia , conductor - Michael Zinman. (The program also features "Botticelli Triptych"  by Respighi and Stravinsky concerto for Chamber Orchestra and "The Chronicle of My Musical Life " by Rimsky-Korsakov).

On March 11 the festival guests will listen to "The Night Before Christmas" opera based on the novel by Nikolay Gogol. The opera is performed by the Moscow musical theater soloists and the State Symphony Capella of Russia conducted by Valery Polyansky.

Everyone interested in the Russian classic music is welcome to include one of Rimsky-Korsakov concerts in their Moscow tours itinerary.

One of the most interesting photo festivals opened its doors to the visitors of all ages in CHA (Tsentralny Dom Hudozhnika). The exhibition uniting more than 500 works is devoted to Russian nature.
