Surrealism and livre d'artiste

18.02.2014 – 25.05.2014
Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts presents an exhibition devoted to surrealism. You can see works of such famous artists as Joan Miro , Pablo Picasso, Giorgio de Chirico, Salvador Dali, Yves Tanguy, Max Ernst and others. Created in the genre of "livre d'artiste " (artist's book) from 1924 to 1980 , the exhibits will allow to trace the history of formation and development of Surrealism as an art movement.

The exhibition  features more than 400 graphic works. A real surprise for the audience will be anti-war work by Pablo Picasso , Sueño y mentira de Franco, made in 1937. The reason for its creation was the bombing of Madrid at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War in 1936.

The exhibition is held in the Private Collections (one of the halls that belong to Pushkin museum, it is located to the right of the main building) but we highly recommend you to visit the main collection of the museum during your Moscow tours.
