The day of Borodino festival

This year the international ‘Day of Borodino’ festival will be held from September 2 - September 8. The festival will feature military-historical reconstructions of the battle scenes that took place in Borodino during the Napoleonic wars.

Borodino village is most famous for The Battle of Borodino fought on September 7, 1812. It was the largest, bloodiest and most significant battle of the war against Napoleon.  During the festival you can watch the reenactments of the key moments of the Borodino battle, performed by lancers, hussars, dragoons, grenadiers, cuirassiers, infantry and artillery who are the members  of the military-historic clubs. Visiting Borodino might appear a true highlight of your Moscow tour.

September 2, Tuesday 

Opening of the exhibition 'The Battle of Borodino in historic relics and in historical miniature' in the "Battle of Borodino " museum-panorama in Moscow 

September 3-6, Wednesday-Saturday 

International Scientific Conference "Borodino and liberation campaigns of the Russian army of 1813-1814" 

September 5, Friday 

14.00 - 20.00  Placing re-enactors participating in the festival in historic bivouacs; gala reception and concert. 

September 6, Saturday 

The Platz theater near the village of Borodino: 

11-00 - 15-00  Military History bivouac of 1812
 
16-00 - 18-00  Rehearsals of the Battle of Borodino reenactment.

September 7, Sunday

10.30 - 11.00 The ceremony at the former Napoleon's command post near the Shevardino village: reenactment clubs construction,  placing flowers,   presentation of the honored guests 
 
12.00 - 13.00  The ceremony at the monument near the Rayevsky Battery: reenactment clubs construction,  commemoration of the fallen heroes, saluting military honors  presentation of the honored guests 

14.00 - 15.30 Military-historical reenactment of the Battle of Borodino episodes on the Platz Theatre 

19.00 - 20.00  All-Night Vigil in the Savior Borodino convent.

September 8, Monday 

The Day of military glory of Russia, 202 anniversary of the Battle of Borodino. 

09.00  Divine Liturgy in St. Vladimir Cathedral of the Savior Borodino Convent 

11.00 Religious procession from the Savior Borodino Convent to the Raevsky Battery.

11.30 - 12.30 The ceremony at the Raevsky Battery, presentation of the honored guests 

You will need to get tickets for a paid tribune if you want to have a better view of military battles, otherwise you can watch the battle reconstruction from aside for free. The festival will take place 125 lm to the west of Moscow, your Moscow guide can accompany you to the Borodino village.
