19.10.2019
Come to discover Chekhov’s Melikhovo estate outside Moscow, admire its peaceful gardens
and learn more about one of greatest Russian writers. In the seven years that Chekhov spent in Melikhovo, Chekhov wrote 42 works, including “Uncle Vanya,” “The Seagull” and numerous short stories.

In the old park, where cherries and apple trees bloom in spring, there is a manor house of the writer. We’ll see how the house looked when Chekhov lived and worked there. Nearby is kitchen which recreates the atmosphere of rural Russian life of the late 19th century. In the depths of the garden we’ll take a look at a cozy little cottage, where in 1895 Anton Chekhov wrote his famous play The Seagull.

Chekhov practiced as a doctor  throughout most of his literary career: "Medicine is my lawful wife", he once said, "and literature is my mistress”. During the tour we’ll see the medical reception room where Chekhov provided free medical care to local peasants. A special plot in the Melikhovo garden was given over to growing medicinal plants.
