Demidov Palace and its Golden Rooms

Join a tour to Demidov Palace, a unique preserved monument of  Moscow 18th century architecture designed by outstanding architect Kazakov.  The house is most famous for it “Golden Rooms’.
 
Today we can see only a small part of the palace however several rooms will not leave you indifferent.   We’ll walk through the grand suite of rooms and appreciate the luxurious interior: ceiling paintings, stucco moldings, ancient Venetian mirrors, and magnificent parquet. Walls, doors, windows, furniture are adorned with exquisite wood carvings, covered with natural gold leaf of different shades.

 
The house nowadays belongs to the University of Geodesy and Cartography, which is one of the oldest Universities in Moscow.  The tour includes a visit to a small museum featuring the old instruments used in measuring Russian empire. Thus you’ll see the quadrant and astrolabe, participating in the campaigns of Peter the Great and many  other unique devices.  
During the tour we’ll also talk about the Demidovs  and their contribution to the culture of Russia.
