03.10.2021
Vvedenskoye Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Moscow where Catholics and Protestants were buried before the Revolution and later people of all confessions.

It is located not far from the place where foreigners were living in the time of Peter the Great. It used to be called Foreign Cemetery. We will see the grave of one of the closest friends of the Russian Emperor - Patrick Gordon as well as the graves of other prominant people of foreign descent who lived in Moscow before the Revolution and were household names at that time.

And some of them are still famous! For example Lucien Olivier, who is known for the creation of Olivier salad, also known as "Russian salad".  There are crypts and tombstones typical of Western European culture and at the same time typical Russian-style burials made in the 20th century. The tour will also include information about Russians buried at that cemetery.

During this tour you will also learn about the area where the cemetery is situated - the District of Lefortovo.
