Day 1. Discover Yekaterinburg – mining capital, mafia capital, the capital of the Urals

Meet your guide in the morning to start your driving tour of the city. You will see luxurious mansions of the Ural manufacturers of the 19th century and lovely wooden merchant mansions, the KGB Town, and the Russian President's residence.

You will also find street art and unusual modern sculptures and monuments like QWERTY or the monument to the Beatles, the famous band that still has many fans worldwide.

We'll stop to admire the city's view from the panoramic platform of Vysotsky Business Center on the 52nd floor.

What do you know about the Russian Mafia? Yekaterinburg was famous for big Russian Mafia gangs in the 1990s.

During our tour, we'll talk about the consequences of the USSR's collapse and learn the story of the two rival Mafioso groupings in the 1990s. You will hear stories about those who took control of Yekaterinburg city in Yeltsin's times.

During the cemetery visit, you will see impressive tombstones elaborately designed with full-sized portraits of the people dressed according to the 1990s gangster fashion with Mercedes cars in the background.

Day 2 Last days of Romanovs

The Romanovs in Yekaterinburg

Learn the history of Romanovs after their exile to Yekaterinburg. On this tour, you will visit the Church on the Blood on the place of Ipatyev's house, where the whole family, including five children, were assassinated in the basement.

In a while, you will drive to the city's outskirts to visit once the hidden mine, known as Ganya's Pit, where Bolsheviks threw the Romanovs' bodies after the execution in 1918. There is a beautiful monastery founded in 2000.

The Church in the Names of Saint Newly Martyrs and five wooden churches were built in honor of different Russian Saints in this solemn place.

We'll finish the tour standing with one foot in Europe and the other in Asia. Europe and Asia border is the place where the West meets the East. Drink a glass of sparkling wine, and learn where this tradition goes from and when this borderline appeared.

Visit Boris Yeltsin center. This cutting-edge museum is an interesting experience. The exhibition design, based on interaction with the visitors, is very modern and well-executed. The discrepancies between the Russian and Western accounts of Yeltsin's reign are both entertaining and food for thought.

Option 1. Day trip to Nature Park Deer Streams

Nature Park Deer Streams

With caves and cliffs along the river, the park is a must for all nature lovers. Driving about 120 km from the city, you'll discover one of the region's most picturesque areas. The park offers two routes: the short trail is 6 km, and the bigger one is 15 km.

Beavers, elks, roebucks, hogs, weasels, and martens live here. You will walk along one of the two beautiful summer routes of the park, admire the Serga River and forest streams, climb the bizarre ancient rocks, see karst gaps, and explore the ancient man's cave.

Nature Park Deer Streams

Option 2. Day trip to Neviansk and pottery village

You will drive to the Northern Urals, to Nevyansk, the old industrial town founded by the wealthiest Russian dynasty of the Demidovs. Like Pizza, this town is also famous for the leaning tower you can climb and experience unusual acoustic effects within its vaulted ceilings.

An unusual whispering room is located on the sixth floor of the tower. You will see an old English clock that still works and plays melodies on the seventh and eighth floors. The clock cost the Demidoffs more than the whole construction of the tower.

Not far from Nevyansk, there is an old believers village Tavolgy famous for century-old pottery traditions. Being persecuted by the Orthodox Church, old believers ran from the Central Russian to the Urals and Siberia. They have been known as hard-working, sober, and frugal people.

Visit the local potters, participate in a workshop and taste some local food during lunchtime.

During the tour, we'll stop to see the most unusual and colorful house of the Urals – Kirillov's house, which is a private house of a prominent blacksmith of the village.
