Olkhon island - the heart of Baikal

Olkhon is the only inhabited island on Baikal Lake and a trip there is one of the way to explore the "small sea" nature and learn more about locals living in this area.

Itinerary:
Day1
Pickup from your hotel by a private guide and  a driver.
On the way to Olkhon island vast  Tzheranskaya steppe  will be open to your eyes where you can see herds of cows or horses gazing. During this private vehicle ride  you will have a number of stops to see overwhelming views, petrogliphs and wild nature as well as have lunch in a local cafe to try Buryat traditional dishes. Take a ferry ( 40 min) through " Olkhon Gate" where the Maloye (Small) and the Bolshoe( Big) Seas are separated by the island. Another 30 min ride will bring you to  Khuzhir village where most of the accomodations are located.

Day2
Breakfast at the guesthouse/hotel
4x4 tour to Cape Khoboy, the Northern part of the island and the place of spiritual gatherings of shamans. This excursion will allow you to explore wild nature.Sandy beaches and dunes, green meadows with herds gazing, cliffs and mountains, foresty area of the national park offer a myriad of photo opportunities. Picnic will be served by your guide  during this 3 hour trip
Upon arrival you will have free time to walk around Khuzhir village for more picturesque views of Baikal.
Optional extentions:
South Olkhon Tour. South of Olkhon is less popular among tourists but not less beautiful.

transfer back to Irkutsk ( about 300 Km, 6 hours)
