We invite you to stroll along the most expensive street in Moscow, and discover some outstanding examples of Art Noveau architecture.

The Ostozhenka street run from Prechistensky Gate square, where the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is located. It reflects the architecture and atmosphere of different epochs and was turned into one of the most prestigious and expensive districts of the Russian capital in the late 20th century. Today, the appearance of Ostozhenka is determined by the buildings of the early 20th century. It was a time of architectural diversity, called Art Noveau.

Art nouveau is an art style that flourished and died out in a very short period of time: for some 20-25 years, the whole world managed to fall in love with it, raise it to the top of the artistic Olympus and become disillusioned, searching for new ideas. Art Nouveau, Jugendshtil, Tiffany - all these names were given to the New Art in different countries of the world, to which it presented incredible architectural monuments of exceptional beauty and expressiveness. Moscow, of course, is no exception.

During our walk along Ostozhenka street, you will see the finest examples of Art Noveau, such as the former apartment building of the merchant Filatov ("House under the Wine Glass"), Mansion of Kekusheva, House of Pertsova, and some others.
What are the main features of Art Noveau in Russia? Why did it last for a such a short period of time? Who were the most talented representatives of this style in Russia?
Find the answers to these and many other questions during our Ostozhenka walk on 19th May!
