Let's get acquainted with the works of the "Russian Rodin"! Sergei Konenkov is one of the most multifaceted sculptors of the 20th century. He created works in diametrically different styles, from emotional works imbued with a rebellious spirit to poetic pieces on subjects from folklore.

Konenkov was born in 1874 in a peasant family in the village of Karakovichi, Smolensk region, Russia. He was an experimenting artist endowed with rampant imagination and an unorthodox way of thinking. The splendor of his talent clearly manifests itself in a variety of kinds and genres of sculptural works, in his graphic works and literary exploits. Konenkov created outstanding works of art during his lengthy career. His pieces show daring novelty in terms of an artistic approach; they are marked with psychological depth and emotional strength of imagery conveying philosophical undertones. The master is known for his extraordinary skills as to the plasticity of realization of an artist’s idea.
