Irkutsk

Irkutsk is one of the largest cities of Eastern Siberia famous mainly for its vicinity to Lake Baikal. Located on the Trans-Siberian route it is must-do stop for a side trip to the lake. Depending on the time constraints travelers stop for a day to get to the closest to the lake village Listvyanka or take a 3 day trip to a remote Olkhon Island, the only inhabited island on the lake. Those who prefer to experience Baikal longer summer and winter Baikal lake tours can be offered.
As for Irkutsk itself it is a charming city where a lot of wooden houses of 18-19th centuries have been preserved.  To have a feeling of the city, you can do a self-tour following  the green line depicted on the pavement to see the main attractions or take our 3 hour city tour to learn more about its history.
