This tour will get you acquainted with the political, economical and cultural center of Siberia since its foundation in 1661. On the tour you will learn about ups and downs of its city: its first settlers- Cossacks, about Decembrists sent into exile after the revolt in St. Petersburg, about collisions of Whites and Reds during the Civil War broke n out after Revolution 1917.
On the tour you will see the historic center with intricate lace of wooden houses , Znamensky convent with the graves of some Decembrists and their wives who followed them in exile, the modern monument to Admiral Kolchak, one of the leaders of White movement in Siberia, walk along the Angara river embankment. During you will talk about Irkuts as multi-etnic and multi-confessional city reflected in various religious buildings. You will finish the tour at Quarter 130, the recreated area of wooden buildings which became a popular venue with restaurants, shops and small museums.
