Дед Мороз - /Ded Mo-roz/- Grandfather Frost

Everybody seems to anticipate Christmas and New Year celebrations. These holidays are mainly associated with presents brought by such a personage as Santa Claus. In Russia we believe in Russian Santa whose name is "Ded Moroz" in translation Grandfather Frost or just Father Frost. However, only Russian Ded Moroz has a distinctive feature. He has a granddaughter, "Snegurochka", Snow maiden who accompanies Father Frost on New Year Eve and helps him to distribute presents.
