Rilke and Russia exhibition

08.02.2018 – 31.03.2018
Boris Pasternak, Marina Tsvetaeva, Rilke - three poets, three countries, one correspondence. At the exhibition, you will learn about the connections between German and Russian cultures. You will find out why the main meeting in their life did not take place. The exhibition presents rare materials, including Rilke's correspondence with Marina Tsvetaeva and Boris Pasternak.

The project expands the traditional scope of the literary exhibition - it also includes the film by Anastasia Alexandrova  "Enchantments and Antiсharms. Following Rilke in Russia. Travel diary", an article by the artistic director of the project Thomas Schmidt "Images of Rilke and Russia", as well as contemporary photographs of Barbara Klemm and Mirko Krizhanovich who travelled through Russia in the footsteps of Rilke.

The exhibition was prepared by the German Literature Archive in Marbach, the State Literary Museum in Moscow, the Swiss Literary Archives in Bern, and the Strauhoff Museum in Zurich.
After the successful exhibition "Rilke and Russia" in Germany and Switzerland, the project begins its work in Moscow. The exhibition is on display at the central exhibition site of the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V. I. Dal in the House of I. Ostroukhov. For the first time, documents and materials are gathered in a single exposition space, testifying to Rilke's deep affection and love for Russia.
Detailed information (in Russian) about the exhibition can be found here:
